Barack Obama to Accept Nomination in Front of 75,000 Americans on 45th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" Speech

(PORTLAND, MAINE) - Tonight, Barack Obama will accept the Democratic nomination for President at Invesco Field in Denver on the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream Speech." Mainers back home will be gathering in living rooms and meeting spots in over 100 locations throughout the Pine Tree State to watch the historic event. Congressman Michaud will attend one of the "Convention Watch Parties" at a home in Auburn.

In his acceptance speech tonight, Barack Obama is going to speak directly to Americans about the choice they face in this election. In very specific terms, he's going to talk about why we can't afford four more years of the same old politics and the same old policies, which is all that John McCain is offering.

Mainers may sign up to attend a "Watch Party" on Thursday at: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/organizeforchange-bg/

The final night of the Democratic National Convention will also be a call to action. This coming Saturday, Mainers will kick off a "Working for Change Weekend" that runs from Saturday, August 30 to Monday, September 1st. All across the state, Mainers will knock on doors to register voters and talk neighbor-to-neighbor about the kind of change Barack Obama and Joe Biden will deliver.

Mainers may sign up to get involved in "Working for Change" Weekend at:
