CONTACT: JESSICA SANTILLO, 207-449-2304

SPOTLIGHT: Maine Delegate Scott Ruffner Will Watch Obama Accept the Nomination Tomorrow, 4 Years After Seeing His Historic 2004 Keynote Address

(PORTLAND, MAINE) - Tonight's Convention program will feature the voices of Americans who share Barack's vision of making America stronger and safer, a salute to the men and women who sacrifice so much for our security. Senator Biden's Vice Presidential acceptance speech will be a highlight of the night.

Mainers back home are getting ready for tomorrow night's "Convention Watch Parties" for Obama's acceptance of the nomination. Obama's Campaign for Change has organized over 100 "Watch Parties" throughout the Pine Tree State.

Mainers may sign up to attend a "Watch Party" on Thursday at: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/organizeforchange-bg/

DELEGATE SPOTLIGHT: Scott Ruffner, Bangor

Scott Ruffner, from Bangor, ME, was a member of the Maine delegation at the Democratic National Convention in 2004, where he heard Senator Barack Obama deliver the keynote address that propelled him into the national spotlight. Ruffner is serving as a delegate again this year, where he will see Senator Obama accept his party's nomination for President of the United States tomorrow night.

"Obama will deliver real relief from high energy prices, provide quality and affordable health care for all Americans, and create opportunities for hardworking Mainers to get ahead. That's the leadership we need to make real change happen," said Ruffner.

DISPATCH: On the Ground

Maine Democratic Party Communications Director Rebecca Pollard writes about the Convention:

Day 2 of the convention surely did not disappoint! A surprise visit to the delegation by DNC chair and former presidential candidate Howard Dean clearly set the stage for the day. Hillary Clinton, of course, was the top headliner yesterday. She emphasized her strong support for Barack Obama and spoke of critical issues like health care and education and the economy. All eyes will be on Maine tonight when Rep. Tom Allen takes the stage between 7 and 7:30 ET to address the Convention.
